The National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and the
National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) are test plans
used by state and territorial boards of nursing to assist in determining licensure decisions.
In order to become a nurse, you must pass one of those two exams.
Both the NCLEX and CFGNS exams are basic nursing exams.
Questions from an individual pool assigned to each examinee, each pool of about 265 questions.
From this pool the examinee must successfully answer from 75 to 80 questions to PASS or FAIL.
Most nurses answer 75-80 questions in 2 1/2 hours or about 2 minutes per question
Average passing rate by foreign educated nurses in 2007 - Over 2/3 of all foreign educated nurses PASSED and under 1/3 FAILED USA National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
